David Skinner Appointed CFO at ACE Europe
Hamilton, BermudaSeptember 15, 2000

ACE Limited (NYSE: ACL) announced today that David Skinner, Manager-Group Financial Planning and Analysis, has been appointed to the position of Chief Financial Officer of ACE Europe. ACE Europe, which is based in London, England, is the European regional organization of ACE International, the international operations of ACE INA Holdings, Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of ACE Limited. Mr. Skinner's appointment is effective November 1.

In making the announcement, Chief Financial Officer for ACE Limited, Chris Marshall, said that Mr. Skinner will lead the European Finance division at ACE Europe through its next phase of development.

"We are pleased that David has agreed to assume this new position within the ACE Group of Companies," said Mr. Marshall. "With his 20 years' financial experience and the strategic planning he has overseen at ACE Limited, he is the ideal candidate to assist in the development of ACE Europe's Finance function."

President and Chief Executive Officer of ACE Europe, Steve Schleisman, said he and his team are looking forward to working with Mr. Skinner.

"We are particularly pleased that we have been able to find the talent and expertise that we need within the ACE Group," said Mr. Schleisman. "We're also pleased that someone who has been so closely involved in budgeting and forecasting results for the entire group will now have responsibility for developing the Finance function at ACE Europe."

Mr. Skinner, a Bermudian Chartered Accountant, joined ACE Limited in 1998. His previous experience covers a broad range of financial services including insurance and reinsurance, banking, mutual funds and financial systems. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Canada and Bermuda. He will work in transition between ACE Limited and ACE Europe as he completes his current corporate responsibility before taking up his new position in London.
