ACE USA Names Susan Woodward SVP of Special Programs
PHILADELPHIA, PennsylvaniaAugust 02, 1999

ACE USA has appointed Susan Woodward senior vice president, Special Programs. In this role, she will oversee group programs and specialty products within the ACE USA Diversified Products division. Her business will include Commercial Programs, Consumer Products, and Sports and Leisure programs.

Woodward, who has more than 25 years' experience in the insurance industry, has been with CIGNA Property & Casualty, which was acquired by ACE Limited on July 2, 1999, for the past six years. She had been senior vice president, Special Programs, for CIGNA Property & Casualty, in charge of the Commercial Program unit, which includes more than a dozen commercial programs. From 1993 to 1998, she was senior vice president, Groups & Associations in CIGNA P&C's Commercial Insurance Services division.

Woodward began her insurance career in 1974 at the Insurance Company of North America (INA), a CIGNA predecessor company, and continued in various management positions within underwriting, product management and marketing. In 1985, she served as risk services manager for Risk Planners, the insurance arm of Super Value stores, and then became president, Northland Agency, a retail insurance agency in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1991, Woodward served as Philadelphia branch resident vice president for Fireman's Fund until 1993 when she left to rejoin CIGNA.

"Susan's experience offers strategic vision and marketing savvy that will serve us well as we expand and develop the special programs segment of our business," said Robert Gaffney, executive vice president of ACE USA's Diversified Products division. "With the combination of the CIGNA and ACE USA program business, we have added new programs to our portfolio and are looking toward Susan's leadership to help reach our target markets and expand our product offerings."

Woodward attended the University of Georgia, majoring in elementary education, and holds the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
