Since the Piper Alpha disaster in July 1988 there has been a restricted number of insurers prepared and able to provide cover to companies who send their employees offshore.

At ACE, in addition to underwriting rig structures and companies involved with exploration, refining and power generation we have, for some years now, provided personal accident cover to companies with offshore exposures. This has recently been expanded to include property and liability covers reinforcing its long-term commitment to the offshore industry.

Alongside the insurance product a unique software system has been developed that revolutionises the way companies working in the oil and gas industry report details of offshore employees.
